Apple Releases Update That Disables Java
Posted by Aaron Shinn on 01 February 2013 02:48 PM

Due to recent security flaws with Java, Apple has just released an update that blocks the use of every version of Java up to and including Java 7 Update 11. Unfortunately, this affects every Mac user out there who wants to screen share using the AnyMeeting software. However, there is an easy fix. All you need to do is go to Java’s website and download the latest version of Java 7 Update 13.

For instructions on how to do this, please visit the following link: http://support.anymeeting.com/index.php?/AnyMeeting/Knowledgebase/Article/View/272/92/cant-screen-share-mac-os-x-users

Screen Sharing Issues with Google Chrome on Macs
Posted by Ryan Young on 30 January 2013 03:42 PM

Hello Mac Users,

Our screen sharing application currently requires the use of Java, a common software that allows for a wide variety of online and offline applications to function. However, on OSX, Java requires a 64 bit browser to function for web applications. But since Chrome for Apple's OSX operating system is not 64 bit, screen sharing will not function on this browser.

We recommend using Mozilla's Firefox browser: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new

Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed too: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

We hope this helps!

Screen Sharing issues for Mac users
Posted by Ryan Young on 16 May 2012 11:26 AM

UPDATE: 05/21/12: We have done further testing into how Apple is handling Java in OSX 10.5 and have altered these instructions. Hopefully, this revised guide may resolve the issue on your system.

Some of InstantPresenter's Mac OSX users have unfortunately been experiencing some issues when attempting to Screen Share. Our Screen Sharing feature requires the rather common Java software to function properly, a software that the majority of internet users will already have installed on their system as it is used by a very wide variety of internet applications. However, Mac OSX has recently changed how it handles Java due to a security compromise. For more information please check out the news article HERE.

For clarification, this effects only the person attempting to screen share and not anyone who is just viewing it.

If you find yourself having difficulty in getting the screen sharing to run on your Mac OSX system, please check out the links below for possible fixes.
